Explanation:

Compression ratio:

  Compression ratio is the ratio of volume .Generally it is denoted by r.From the diagram we can say that the compression ratio r

r=\dfrac{V_1}{V_2}

Generally compression ratio varies from 10 to 14 in petrol engine but on the other hand the compression ratio in diesel engine is more as compare to petrol .In diesel engine the compression ratio varies from 15 to 20.

Yes there is limit of compression ratio in Otto cycle.If compression ratio is high in Otto cycle then there will be more possibility of pre ignition of air fuel and this is called miss firing.This is not good for Otto cycle.

According to the amortization table, Demarco and Tanya will pay a total of in interest over the life of their loan.
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

(Interest rate/number of payments)*$170000= interest for the first month.

Interest amounts for all the months of repayment plus $170000=Total loan cost

Explanation:

Interest is the amount you pay for taking a loan from a bank on top of the original amount borrowed.

Factors affecting how much interest is paid are; the principal amount, the loan terms, repayment schedule, the repayment amount and the rate of interest.

The interest paid=(rate of interest/number of payments to make)*principal amount borrowed.

You divide the interest with number of payments done in a year where monthly are divided by 12.Multiplying it by loan balance in the first month which is your principal amount gives the interest rate to pay for that month.

You new loan balance will be= Principal -(repayment-interest)

Do this for the period the loan should take.

Add all the interest amount to original borrowed amount to get total cost of the loan after the period of time.

At a certain location, wind is blowing steadily at 5 mph. Suppose that the mass density of air is 0.0796 lbm/ft3 and determine t
nlexa [21]

Answer:

The radius of a wind turbine is 691.1 ft

The power generation potential (PGP) scales with speed at the rate of 7.73 kW.s/m

Explanation:

Given;

power generation potential (PGP) = 1000 kW

Wind speed = 5 mph = 2.2352 m/s

Density of air = 0.0796 lbm/ft³ = 1.275 kg/m³

Radius of the wind turbine r = ?

Wind energy per unit mass of air, e = E/m = 0.5 v² = (0.5)(2.2352)²

Wind energy per unit mass of air = 2.517 J/kg

PGP = mass flow rate * energy per unit mass

PGP = ρ*A*V*e

PGP = \rho *\frac{\pi r^2}{2} *V*e  \\\\r^2 = \frac{2*PGP}{\rho*\pi *V*e} , r=\sqrt{ \frac{2*PGP}{\rho*\pi *V*e}} = \sqrt{ \frac{2*10^6}{1.275*\pi *2.235*2.517}}

r = 210.64 m = 691.1 ft

Thus, the radius of a wind turbine is 691.1 ft

PGP = CVᵃ

For best design of wind turbine Betz limit (c) is taken between (0.35 - 0.45)

Let C = 0.4

PGP = Cvᵃ

take log of both sides

ln(PGP) = a*ln(CV)

a = ln(PGP)/ln(CV)

a = ln(1000)/ln(0.4 *2.2352) = 7.73

The power generation potential (PGP) scales with speed at the rate of 7.73 kW.s/m
