<h2>The mass of a liquid substance affected after it boils : C it stays the same</h2>

Explanation:

Matter

Anything that occupies space and has mass .

The states of matter are :

Solids

Liquids

gases

Interconversion of state of matter

Solid ------liquid -----------Gas

    (on heating )   (on heating )

  • One state can be changed in to another by changing the condition of temperature , pressure etc .
  • When liquid is boiled , it gets converted to gaseous form on heating .The heat supplied to change the state of matter is called latent heat .
  • This latent heat , just helps in increasing the spaces between particles and decreasing the forces between them Hence we can say that it helps in changing  the state .But it doesn't change the mass .Hence mass of substance remains the same .
  • Similarly , gas ----->  liquid -----> solid

                            (on cooling )   (on cooling )

If you dispense 40 ml of hexane, but it turns out you only need 5 ml, what should you do with the remainder?
Natasha2012 [34]

After subtracting the volume needed from the volume dispensed, we got a remainder of 35ml

<h3>Subtraction of Numbers</h3>

Given Data

  • Volume of Hexane dispensed = 40ml
  • Volume needed = 5 ml

Let us compute the amount of excess hexane/ the volume that will remain

Remainder = The difference in volume dispensed and the volume needed

Remainder = 40-5

Remainder = 35 ml

The remainder is 35ml

Given the wavelength of the corresponding emission line, calculate the equivalent radiated energy from n = 4 to n = 2 in both jo
lions [1.4K]

Explanation:

It is given that,

Initial orbit of electrons, n_i=4

Final orbit of electrons, n_f=2

We need to find energy, wavelength and frequency of the wave.

When atom make transition from one orbit to another, the energy of wave is given by :

E=-13.6(\dfrac{1}{n_f^2}-\dfrac{1}{n_i^2})

Putting all the values we get :

E=-13.6(\dfrac{1}{(4)^2}-\dfrac{1}{(2)^2})\\\\E=2.55\ eV

We know that : 1\ eV=1.6\times 10^{-19}\ J

So,

E=2.55\times 1.6\times 10^{-19}\\\\E=4.08\times 10^{-19}\ J

Energy of wave in terms of frequency is given by :

E=hf

f=\dfrac{E}{h}\\\\f=\dfrac{4.08\times 10^{-19}}{6.63\times 10^{-34}}\\\\f=6.14\times 10^{14}\ Hz

Also, c=f\lambda

\lambda is wavelength

So,

\lambda=\dfrac{c}{f}\\\\\lambda=\dfrac{3\times 10^8}{6.14\times 10^{14}}\\\\\lambda=4.88\times 10^{-7}\ m\\\\\lambda=488\ nm

Hence, this is the required solution.
