Answer:

B) Transferases ⇒ 1) transfer functional groups between molecules

E) isomerases ⇒ 2) catalyze intramolecular rearrangements

A) oxidoreductases ⇒3) catalyze redox chemistry

F) ligases ⇒4) catalyze the joining of two molecules together

Explanation:

The question deals with enzyme classes.

There are 6 enzyme classes.

  1. Transferases
  2. Lyases
  3. Ligases (Synthetases)
  4. Oxidoreductases
  5. Hydrolases
  6. Isomerases

1. TRANSFERASES:

They are responsible for catalyzing the transfer of functional groups from one molecule to another. The molecule from which the functional group is transferred is called Donor and the molecule to which the functional group is transferred is called Acceptor.

e.g. Hexokinase enzyme which catalyzes the transfer of phosphate group from ATP to glucose.

2. LYASES:

They are responsible for breaking down covalent bonds without oxidation and hydrolysis.

e.g. Histdine decarboxylase enzyme which breaks covalent bonds in Histidine molecule.

3. LIGASES (SYNTHETASES)

They are responsible for joining molecules (ligation).

e.g. DNA polymerase which links subunits in DNA.

4. OXIDOREDUCTASES:

They are responsible for oxidation and reduction reactions and act by removing or adding electrons or Hydrogen ions.

e.g. Cytochrome oxidase

5. HYDROLASES

They break down bonds with the help of water molecule.

e.g. proteolytic enzymes which break bonds in proteins with the aid of water.

6. ISOMERASES:

They bring intramolecular rearrangements in molecules. Such intramolecular rearrangements lead to the formation of isomers. Isomers are molecules with the same chemical formula but different arrangement of atoms.

e.g. Phosphohexose isomerase converts glucose 6-phosphate into fructose 6-phosphate.

Which metal can be extracted from bauxite ore?
Finger [1]
Aluminum
Bauxite ore is the world's primary source of aluminum. The ore must first be chemically processed to produce alumina (aluminum oxide). Alumina is then smelted using an electrolysis process to produce pure aluminum metal. Bauxite is typically found in topsoil located in various tropical and subtropical regions.

2C2H2 + 5O2 → 4CO2 + 2 H2O How many grams of CO2 are required to react with exactly 3.00 mol of O2? 106 g 132 g 165 g 76.8 g
cricket20 [7]

Hey there!:

Given the reaction:

2 C2H2 + 5 O2 → 4 CO2 + 2 H2O

5 moles O2 ------------- 4 moles CO2

3.00 moles O2 ----------  ( moles of CO2 ?? )

moles of CO2 = 3.00 * 4 / 5

moles of CO2 =  12 / 5

moles of CO2 = 2.4 moles

So, molar  mass CO2 = 44.01 g/mol

Therefore:

1 mole CO2 -------------- 44.01 g

2.4 moles CO2 ---------- ( mass of CO2 )

mass of CO2 = 2.4 * 44.01 / 1

mass of CO2 = 106 g

Answer A

Hope that helps!

Estimate the enthalpy change for the combustion of one mole of acetylene, C2H2, to form carbon dioxide and water vapor. BE(C?H)
tia_tia [17]

Answer:

ΔH rxn =  -1010 kJ/molC₂H₂

Explanation:

To obtain the enthalpy change for a reaction from bond energies what we do is to make an inventory of the bonds broken and formed for the balanced chemical reaction:

C₂H₂ + 5/2O₂   ⇒   2CO₂ + H₂O

Bond Broken                                    Bonds Formed

2 C-H + 1 C≡C + 5/2 O=O                4C=O + 2 H-O

Enthalpy bonds broken:

2 mol (456 kJ/mol)+ 1 mol (962 kJ/mol) + 5/2 mol (499 kJ/mol)  =  3121.5 kJ

Enthalpy bond formed:

4 mol (802 kJ/mol) + 2 mol (462 kJ/mol) = 4132.0 kJ

ΔH rxn = H broken - H formed =  3121.5 kJ - 4132.0 kJ = - 1010  kJ (per mol C₂H₂ )
