Three m3 of air in a rigid, insulated container fitted with a paddle wheel is initially at 295 K, 200 kPa. The air receives 1546

kJ of work from the paddle wheel. Assuming the ideal gas model, determine for the air (a) the mass, in kg, (b) final temperature, in K, and (c) the amount of entropy produced, in KJ/K.

Answer:

m = 7.086 kg

T_2 = 597.99 K

S_{gen} = 3.605 kJ/K

Explanation:

Given data:

volume of sir - 3 m^3

temperature is t = 295 K

Pressure is = 200 kPa

for air , R =  0.287 kJ/kg k

a) from ideal gas equation we have

PV = mRT

solving for m

m = \frac{PV}{RT} =\frac{200 \times 3}{0.287 \times 295}

m = 7.086 kg

b) by energy balance principle

E_{in} -E_{out} = \Delta E

W_{paddle} - 0 = mc_v (T_2 -T_1)

1546 - 0 = 7.086 \times 0.72(T_2 - 295)

T_2 = 597.99 K

C)ENTROPY

S_{gen} = \Delta S_{system}

             = m c_v ln \frac{T_2}{T_1}

             = 7.086 \times 0.72 ln \frac{597.99}{295}

S_{gen} = 3.605 kJ/K

In order to protect yourself if you have a dispute with another drivers insurance company you should:
klio [65]

Answer:

  C. Get the names and addresses of witness to the crash

Explanation:

The best approach is to let your insurance company handle the dispute. Since that is not an option here, the best thing you can do is make sure you know who the witnesses are, so your insurance company can call upon them as needed.

What are supercapacitors ?
OLEGan [10]

Answer:

A supercapacitor, also called an ultracapacitor, is a high-capacity capacitor with a capacitance value much higher than other capacitors, but with lower voltage limits, that bridges the gap between electrolytic capacitors and rechargeable batteries.

Which of the following is NOT true concerning the color of minerals? A. Some minerals have a consistent color, but many have a r
mixer [17]

Answer:

Option D

A mineral’s color reflects the wavelengths of light that are absorbed by the mineral.

Explanation:

Color is one of the physical properties of minerals. Many minerals have a wide range of colors but there are some minerals with one consistent color and such minerals are referred as monochromatic minerals for example azurite. Normally, the streak color tends to be less variable than the color of the whole mineral and impurities or minor chemical components in a mineral react and often control the display color of resultant mineral. Option D is incorrect since mineral's color don't reflect wavelengths of light absorbed by such minerals.
