According to newton's law of universal gravitation:

   Every particle attracts one another with a force that is directly proportional the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers.

 It is mathematically expressed as:

            F  =  \frac{G m[tex]_{1} m_{2} }{r^{2}}[/tex]

F is the gravitational force

G is the gravitational constant

m is the mass

r is the distance between the masses.
