If 0.500 mol neon at 1.00 atm and 273 K expands against a constant external pressure of 0.100 atm until the gas pressure reaches

0.200 atm and the temperature reaches 210 K, calculate the work done on the gas, the internal energy change, and the heat absorbed by the gas.

Answer:

The work done on neon = -323 J

The internal energy change= -392.84 J

The heat absorbed by neon = -69.84 J

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Number of moles  = 0.500 moles

Pressure  = 1 atm

Temperature  = 273 Kelvin

The pressure will change from 1.00 atm to 0.200 atm. The temperature changes from 273 to 210 Kelvin.

a) calculate the work done on neon

W = -P(V2-V1)

⇒ with P = the pressure = 0.1 atm

⇒ with V1 = the initial volume = nRTi /Pi

⇒ with V2 = the final volume = nRTf /Pf

W = -PnR((T2/P2) -(T1/P1))

⇒ with T2 = the final temperature = 210 K

 ⇒ with T1 = the initial temperature = 273 K

 ⇒ with P2 = the final pressure = 0.200 atm

 ⇒ with P1 = the initial pressure = 1.00 atm

W = -nR (210*(0.1/0.2) - 273*(0.1/1.00))

W = -nR*(105 - 27.3)

W= -(0.500)*(8.314)*(77.7)

W = -323 J

b) calculate the internal energy change

E = (3/2)*nRT

ΔE = Ef - Ei

ΔE =(3/2)*nR(T2-T1)

⇒ with n= number of moles = 0.500 moles

⇒ with T2 =the final temperature = 210 K

⇒ with T1 = the initial temperature = 273 K

ΔE = (3/2)*(0.5)*(8.314)(210-273)

ΔE = -392.84 J

c) Calculate the heat absorbed by neon

ΔE = q + W

q = ΔE -W

⇒ with ΔE = -392.84 J

⇒ with W = -323 J

q = -392.84 J -( -323 J)

q =-392.84 J + 323 J

q = -69.84 J

What mass of magnesium chloride is needed to make 100.0 mL of a solution that is 0.500 M in chloride ion?
miss Akunina [59]
M = n/V

.5M = n/.100 L

n = .1 L * .5M

n= .05 mols of MgCl2

mass of MgCl2 = .05 mols of MgCl2 * 95.211 grams/ 1 mol of MgCl2

mass of MgCl2 = 4.76 grams

4.76 grams of MgCl2 is needed to make 100 ml of a solution that is .500M, in chloride ion. Bolded = confused

The solubility of glucose at 30°C is
weqwewe [10]

Answer:

Saturated solution

We should raise the temperature to increase the amount of glucose in the solution without adding more glucose.

Explanation:

Step 1: Calculate the mass of water

The density of water at 30°C is 0.996 g/mL. We use this data to calculate the mass corresponding to 400 mL.

400 mL \times \frac{0.996g}{1mL} =398g

Step 2: Calculate the mass of glucose per 100 g of water

550 g of glucose were added to 398 g of water. Let's calculate the mass of glucose per 100 g of water.

100gH_2O \times \frac{550gGlucose}{398gH_2O} = 138 gGlucose

Step 3: Classify the solution

The solubility represents the maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved per 100 g of water. Since the solubility of glucose is 125 g Glucose/100 g of water and we attempt to dissolve 138 g of Glucose/100 g of water, some of the Glucose will not be dissolved. The solution will have the maximum amount of solute possible so it would be saturated. We could increase the amount of glucose in the solution by raising the temperature to increase the solubility of glucose in water.

How many molecules are in 18moles of CH.
-Dominant- [34]

Answer:

1.08 x 10²⁵molecules

Explanation:

From the mole concept we know that ;

      1 mole of any substance contains 6.02 x 10²³ molecules

This number is the Avogadro's number.

 So;

  18 mole of CH will contain:

       Number of molecules of CH  = 18 x 6.02 x 10²³ = 1.08 x 10²⁵molecules

The number of molecules is therefore 1.08 x 10²⁵molecules

How is the Crystal lattice of an ionic compound different from the Crystal formation of a metallic compound
den301095 [7]

Answer:

Explanation: For most longer adjectives, the comparative is made by adding the word "more" (for example, more comfortable) and the superlative is made by adding the word "most" (for example, most comfortable). If a 1-syllable adjective ends in "e", the endings are "-r" and "-st", for example: wise, wiser, wisest.
