A 0.540-kg bucket rests on a scale. Into this bucket you pour sand at the constant rate of 56.0 g/s. If the sand lands in the bu

cket with a speed of 3.20 m/s, (a) what is the reading of the scale when there is 0.750 kg of sand in the bucket? (b) What is the weight of the bucket and the 0.750 kg of sand?

Answer:

a) 12.8212 N

b) 12.642 N

Explanation:

Mass of bucket = m = 0.54 kg

Rate of filling with sand  = 56.0 g/ sec = 0.056 kg/s

Speed of sand = 3.2 m/s

g= 9.8 m/sec2

<u>Condition (a);</u>

Mass of sand = Ms = 0.75 kg

So total mass becomes = bucket mass + sand mass = 0.54 +0.75=1.29 kg

== > total weight = 1.29 × 9.8 = 12.642 N

Now impact of sand = rate of filling × velocity = 0.056 × 3.2 =  0.1792 kg. m /sec2=0.1792 N

Scale reading is sum of impact of sand and weight force ;

i-e

scale reading = 12.642 N+0.1792 N = 12.8212 N

<u>Codition (b);</u>

bucket mass + sand mass = 0.54 +0.75=1.29 kg

==>weight = mg = 1.29 × 9.8 = 12.642 N (readily calculated above as well)

Two bodies of mass m₁ &amp; m₂ are moving with the same velocity 'v' K.E. will be greater for??
boyakko [2]

Answer:

the one with a higher mass

Explanation:

The body with more mass will have the greater kinetic energy of the two.

Kinetic energy is the energy due to the motion of body. It is mathematically expressed as:

           K.E  = \frac{1}{2}  m v²

m is the mass

v is the velocity

 Since the velocity of the two bodies are the same, and mass is directly proportional to kinetic energy, the body with more mass will have a higher kinetic energy.

 So between mass m1 and mass m2, the one with a greater mass will have a higher kinetic energy

IN THIS FORMULA FOR WATER WHAT DOES THE SUBSCRIPT 2 INDICATE
masha68 [24]
The chemical formular for water is H2O.
The H aspect of the formula stands for hydrogen gas and the subscript 2 which is attached to the H symbol signifies that two atoms of hydrogen are joined together, that is two atom of hydrogen are present.
The chemical formula of water indicates that, two atom of hydrogen react with one atom of oxygen to form one molecule of water.
In chemical formulae, subscripts are normally used to indicate the number of atoms that are present in a molecule.

A 6.00 A current runs through a 12-gauge copper wire (diameter 2.05 mm) and through a light bulb. Copper has 8.5×1028 free elect
navik [9.2K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Current, I = 6 A

diameter of wire, d = 2.05 mm

number of electrons per unit volume, n = 8.5 x 10^28

If the diameter is doubled,

The resistance of the wire is inversely proportional to the square of the diameter of the wire, so the resistance is  one forth an the current is directly proportional to the diameter of the wire so the current is four times the initial value.

A Foucault pendulum consists of a brass sphere with a diameter of 31.0 cm suspended from a steel cable 11.0 m long (both measure
kozerog [31]

Answer:

43.7 °C

Explanation:

\alpha_b = Coefficient of linear expansion of brass = 18\times 10^{-6}\ ^{\circ}C

\alpha_s = Coefficient of linear expansion of steel = 11\times 10^{-6}\ ^{\circ}C

L_{0b} = Initial length of brass = 31 cm

L_{0s} = Initial length of steel = 11 m

\Delta L = Total change in length = 3 mm

Total change in length would be

\Delta L=\Delta L_b+\Delta L_s\\\Rightarrow \Delta L=L_{0b}\alpha_b\Delta T+L_{0s}\alpha_b\Delta T\\\Rightarrow \Delta T=\frac{\Delta L}{L_{0b}\alpha_b+L_{0s}\alpha_b}\\\Rightarrow \Delta T=\frac{0.003}{0.31\times 18\times 10^{-6}+11\times 10^{-6}\times 11}\\\Rightarrow \Delta T=23.7\ ^{\circ}C

\Delta T=23.7\\\Rightarrow T_f-T_i=23.7\\\Rightarrow T_f=23.7+T_i\\\Rightarrow T_f=23.7+20\\\Rightarrow T_f=43.7\ ^{\circ}C

The final temperature is 43.7 °C
