Answer:

F = 1.128 10⁸ Pa

Explanation:

Pressure is defined by

         P = F / A

If the gas is ideal for equal force eds on all the walls, so on the piston area we have

        F = P A

We reduce the pressure to the SI system

       P = 150 kpa (1000 Pa / 1kPa = 150 103 Pa

we calculate

       F = 150 10³ / 0.00133

       F = 1.128 10⁸ Pa

What is the magnitude of the force needed to keep a 60 newton rubber block moving across level,dry asphalt in a straight line at
pantera1 [17]

let Coefficients of Friction of Rubber on asphalt (dry) =0.7

F= Coefficients of Friction * normal force = 0.7 * 60 =42 N

so the net force of the rubber is zero, meaning it will travel at a constant speed.

When the rubber is travel at 2m/s, 42N is required to keep moving at constant speed

A Person whose weight is 5.20 x 10^2 N is being pulledup
Gnoma [55]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

Weight of Person W=5.20\times 10^{2} N

Cave is h=35.1 m deep

Breaking stress T=569 N

Net Force on Person

F_{net}=569-520=49 N

a_{net}=\frac{F_{net}}{\frac{W}{g}}

a_{net}=\frac{49}{\frac{520}{9.8}}

a_{net}=0.923 m/s^2

The shortest time such that the person can be taken out of cave

h=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2

where

h=distance moved

t=time

a=acceleration

35.1=0+\frac{1}{2}(0.923)(t)^2

t^2=76.05

t=\sqrt{76.05}

t=8.72\ s

A professor's office door is 0.91 m wide, 2.0 m high, and 4.0 cm thick; has a mass of 25 kg; and pivots on frictionless hinges.
olasank [31]

Answer:

F= 5.71 N

Explanation:

width of door= 0.91 m

door closer torque on door= 5.2 Nm

In order to hold the door in open position we need to exert an equal and opposite torque, to the door closer torque, on the door.

so wee need to exert 5.2 Nm torque on the door.

If we want to apply minimum force to exert the required torque we need to apply force perpendicularly on the door knob (end of door) so that to to greater moment arm.

T= r x F

T= r F sin∅

F= T/ (r * sin∅)

F= 5.2/ (0.91 * 1)

F= 5.71 N

A positive charge is moved from point A to point B along an equipotential surface. How much work is performed or required in mov
Nitella [24]

Answer:

No work is performed or required in moving the positive charge from point A to point B.

Explanation:

Lets take

Q= Positive charge which move from  point A to point B along

Voltage difference,ΔV =V₁ - V₂

The work done

W = Q . ΔV

Given that  charge is moved from point A to point B along an equipotential surface.It means that voltage  difference is zero.

ΔV = 0

So

W = Q . ΔV

W = Q x 0

W= 0 J

So work is zero.

The length of a certain wire is kept same while its radius is doubled. what is the new resistivity of this wire?
anastassius [24]
The text does not specify whether the resistance R of the wire must be kept the same or not: here I assume R must be kept the same.

The relationship between the resistance and the resistivity of a wire is
\rho =  \frac{AR}{L}
where
\rho is the resistivity
A is the cross-sectional area
R is the resistance
L is the wire length

the cross-sectional area is given by
A=\pi r^2
where r is the radius of the wire. Substituting in the previous equation ,we find
\rho =  \frac{\pi r^2 R}{L}

For the new wire, the length L is kept the same (L'=L) while the radius is doubled (r'=2r), so the new resistivity is
\rho' =  \frac{\pi r'^2 R}{L'}= \frac{\pi (2r)^2 R}{L}=4  \frac{\pi r^2 R}{L}   = 4 \rho
Therefore, the new resistivity must be 4 times the original one.
