The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Unfortunately, you did not attach the article or the text. You also forgot to attach the options for the question.

However, trying to help you we did some deep research and can comment on the following.

The statement that describes the central idea of the text is "Baseball can be explained and improved by collecting data and studying the natural laws at play in the sport."

You are referring to the article written by Stephen Ornes, of August 21, 2013, for Science News for Students.

The author refers to the idea that baseball and physics are related and can be understood through the "eyes" of science. Statistics bring interesting data to help understand the game.

And this idea is correct because today, baseball coaches and other sports coaches as is the case of football, use a series of statistics and data to better hire talent for their respective teams, as well as to better create plans and game strategies derived from the results and interpretation of data.

A helicopter flies 25 km north, 5 km east, then 5 km S, then 15 km W. What is the resultant displacement and direction of the he
ch4aika [34]

Answer:

Explanation:

Plotting the original location of the helicopter before it flies 25 km north, it would be at the origin, (0,0) then after it flies north, the y vertex gains 25 points, so it would be (0,25)

After it flies east, the x coordinate gains 5 points, so it would now be (5,25)

After it flies south, the y coordinate loses or is subtracted by 5 points. so it would now be (5,20)

After flying west, the x coordinate loses 15 points. So the final vertex would be at (-10,20)

East = Right

West = Left

South= Down

North = Up

I used mainly mathematical methods by adding and subtracting the x and y coordinate values, but this could be graphed easily since I gave the coordinates just incase!

Hope this helps!

To pull an old stump out of the ground, you and a friend tie two ropes to the stump. You pull on it with a force of 500 N to the
zhannawk [14.2K]

Answer:

C. less than 950 N.

Explanation:

Given that

Force in north direction F₁ = 500 N

Force in the northwest F₂ = 450 N

Lets take resultant force R

The angle between force = θ

θ = 45°

The resultant force R

R=\sqrt{F_1^2+F_2^2+2F_1F_2cos\theta}

R=\sqrt{500^2+450^2+2\times 450\times 500\times cos\theta}

R= 877.89 N

Therefore resultant force is less than 950 N.

C. less than 950 N

Note- When these two force will act in the same direction then the resultant force will be 950 N.

A 4 kg bowling bowl is sitting on a table 1 meter off the ground. How much potential energy does it have?
il63 [147K]

Answer:

\huge\boxed{\sf P.E. = 39.2\ Joules}

Explanation:

Given Data:

Mass = m = 4 kg

Acceleration due to gravity = g = 9.8 m/s²

Height = h = 1 m

Required:

Potential Energy = P.E. = ?

Formula:

P.E. = mgh

Solution:

P.E. = (4)(9.8)(1)

P.E. = 39.2 Joules
