(a) A force F = (3xî + 4yĵ), where F is in newtons and x and y are in meters, acts on an object as the object moves in the x-dir

ection from the origin to x = 5.18 m. Find the work W = F · dr done by the force on the object (in J). J (b) What If? Find the work W = F · dr done by the force on the object (in J) if it moves from the origin to (5.18 m, 5.18 m) along a straight-line path making an angle of 45.0° with the positive x-axis. J Is the work done by this force dependent on the path taken between the initial and final points? dependent independent

Answer:

W = 53.6648 J

Explanation:

W = ∫ F * dr

F = < 4*x i , 3*y j > Newtons

dr = < dx, 0 >

Take the dot product:

F * dr = 4* x * dx

Now replacing numeric

W = ∫ 4 * x * dx , ║ x = ( 0 m ⇒ 5.18 m )

W = ¹ / ₂ * (4 N/m) * x ²

W = (2 N/m) * (5.18 m)²

W = 53.6648 J

A 5kg wheel rolls off a flat roof of a 50 m tall building at 12m/s.
Olegator [25]

Explanation:

a) Given in the y direction (taking down to be positive):

Δy = 50 m

v₀ = 0 m/s

a = 10 m/s²

Find: t

Δy = v₀ t + ½ at²

50 m = (0 m/s) t + ½ (10 m/s²) t²

t = 3.2 s

b) Given in the x direction:

v₀ = 12 m/s

a = 0 m/s²

t = 3.2 s

Find: Δx

Δx = v₀ t + ½ at²

Δx = (12 m/s) (3.2 s) + ½ (0 m/s²) (3.2 s)²

Δx = 38 m

If the units of your answer are kg ∙ m2/s3, which of the following types of quantities could your answer be?
kirza4 [7]

Answer:

  D.  power

Explanation:

  kg represents mass

  (m/v)² represents velocity squared

Then kg·m²/s² represents mass·velocity² = <em>kinetic energy</em> or <em>potential energy</em> or <em>work</em>.

  kg·m²/s³ will be the <em>rate of doing work</em>, which is power

A single loop of wire with an area of 0.0780 m2 is in a uniform magnetic field that has an initial value of 3.80 T, is perpendic
Katarina [22]

Answer:

The induced current is 26.7 mA

Explanation:

Given;

area of the loop, A = 0.078 m²

initial magnetic field, B₁ = 3.8 T

change in the magnetic field strength, dB/dt = 0.24 T/s

The induced emf is calculated as;

emf = - \frac{d \phi}{dt} \\\\emf = -\frac{dB.A}{dt} \\\\emf = A (\frac{dB}{dt} )\\\\emf = 0.078(0.24)\\\\emf = 0.0187 \ V

The resistance of the loop = 0.7 Ω

The induced current is calculated as;

V = IR\\\\I = \frac{V}{R} = \frac{emf}{R} = \frac{0.0187}{0.7} = 0.0267 \ A = 26.7 \ mA

An 8.0 cm object is 40.0 cm from a concave mirror that has a focal length of 10.0 cm. Its image is 16.0 cm in front of the mirro
svet-max [94.6K]
 We can rearrange the mirror equation before plugging our values in.
1/p = 1/f - 1/q.
1/p = 1/10cm - 1/40cm
1/p = 4/40cm - 1/40cm = 3/40cm
40cm=3p  <-- cross multiplication
13.33cm = p

Now that we have the value of p, we can plug it into the magnification equation.

M=-16/13.33=1.2
1.2=h'/8cm
9.6=h'

So the height of the image produced by the mirror is 9.6cm.
