Answer:

3.1 kg

Explanation:

Applying,

R = m(g-a)..................... Equation 1

Where R = weight of the scale when the elevator is coming down, a = acceleration of the elevator, g = acceleration due to gravith.

From the question,

Given: m = 5 kg, a = 3.8 m/s²

Constant: g = 9.8 m/s²

Substitute these values into equation 1

R = 5(9.8-3.8)

R = 5(6)

R = 30 N

Hence the spring scale is

m' = R/g

m' = 30/9.8

m' = 3.1 kg

2075 Set A Q.No. 106 A Carnot engine has 40% efficiency with a sink at 10°C. By how many degrees should the temperature of the s
Anni [7]

Answer:

Explanation:

Efficiency of a Carnot engine = 1 – (T2/T1) ;

where T1 = source temperature and T2 = sink temperature

T2 = 10⁰C = 273+10 = 283K

The initial efficiency = 40%

So 0.4 = 1 - (283/Initial T1)

Initial T1 = 283/(1-0.4) = 471.67 K

To raise efficiency to 65%

0.65 = 1 - (283/Increased T1)

Increased T1 = 283/(1-0.65) = 808.57 K

The source temperature must be increased by 808.57 - 471.67 = 336.9 K or 336.9°C.

A solution is a homogeneous mixture of one or more solutes dissolved in a solvent. A specific volume of solvent is only able to
Luba_88 [7]

Answer;

C. Supersaturated

Explanation;

 • Solutions are homogeneous mixtures that are created by mixing a solute and a solvent. Solute is the substance present in smaller amounts that dissolves in a solvent such as water which is the substance present in larger amount.
 • A solution, can be unsaturated, saturated or supersaturated. An unsaturated solution is a solution that contains less solute that can be dissolved, it doesn't contain the maximum amount of solute.
 • A saturated solution is a solution containing the maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved at a given temperature. Any additional solute will remain undissolved in the container.
 • A supersaturated solution is a solution created when a solution is carefully cooled because it contains more solute than the solubility allows.

a body of mass 20kg initially at rest is subjected to a force of 40N for 1sec calculate the change in kinetic energy showing the
Tema [17]

Answer:

Change in KE is 40 J

Explanation:

Recall that the impulse exerted on an object equal the change of momentum of the object (ΔP), which in time is defined as the product of the force exerted on it times the time the force was acting:

Change in momentum is: ΔP = F * Δt

In our case,

ΔP = 40 N * 1 sec = 40 N s

Since the object was initially at rest, its initial momentum was zero, and the final momentum should then be 40 N s.

So, the initial KE was 0, and the final (KEf) can be calculated using:

KEf = 1 /(2 m) Pf^2 = 1 / (40) 40^2 = 40 J

So, the change in kinetic energy is:

KEf - KEi = 40 J - 0 j = 40 J

Zoe read that drinking water from a faucet instead of from a plastic bottle helps overcome a disadvantage of using nonrenewable
Arlecino [84]

The conclusion that is best supported by this information is the water in faucets in healthier.

Which conclusion is best supported by this information?

The water in faucets in healthier is the conclusion that is best supported by this information because plastic made of chemical so water can react with the water and make water unhealthier for us.

So we can conclude that the water in faucets in healthier is the conclusion that is best supported by this information
