The relationship between resistance and the area of the cross section of a wire is inversely proportional . When resistance is increased in a circuit , for example by adding more electrical components , the current decreases as a result.

A fuel cell vehicle draws 50 kW of power at 70 mph and is 40% efficient at rated power. You are asked to size the fuel cell syst
svetoff [14.1K]

Answer:

  a) fuel cell weight and volume: 50 kg, 33.3 L

  b) fuel tank weight and volume: 321 kg, 643 L

Explanation:

<u>Fuel Cell</u>

Delivery of 50 kW from a source with a power density of 1.5 kW/L requires a source that has a volume of ...

  (50 kW)/(1.5 kW/L) = 33.3 L

The weight of the power source is 1 kW/kg, so will be ...

  (50 kW)/(1 kW/kg) = 50 kg

__

<u>Fuel Tank</u>

400 miles at 70 mph will take (400/70) h ≈ 5.71429 h. In that time, the energy used by the vehicle power plant is ...

  (50 kW)(5.71429 h)(3600 s/h) = 1028.57 MJ

Since the power plant is 40% efficient, it must be supplied with 2.5 times that amount of energy, or 2571.43 MJ.

The tank volume and mass will then be ...

  volume = 2571.43 MJ/(4 MJ/L) = 642.9 L

  mass = 2571.43 MJ/(8 MJ/L) = 321.4 kg

_____

<em>Comment on fuel tank volume</em>

It appears the fuel tank would need to be equivalent in size to a sphere about 1.1 m in diameter.

This question allows you to practice proving a language is non-regular via the Pumping Lemma. Using the Pumping Lemma (Theorem 1
Ulleksa [173]

Answer:

<em>L is not a regular language with formal proofs  </em>

Explanation:

<em>(a) To prove that L is not a regular language, we will use a proof by contradiction. the assumption entails  that L is a regular language. Then by the Pumping Lemma for Regular Languages, </em>

<em>there exists a pumping length p for L such that for any string s ∈ L where |s| ≥ p, </em>

<em>s = xyz subject to the following conditions: </em>

<em>(a) |y| > 0 </em>

<em>(b) |xy| ≤ p, and </em>

<em>(c) ∀i > 0, xyi </em>

<em>z ∈ L</em>

<em />

<em>(b) To determine that L is not a regular language, we mke use of proof by contradiction.  lets assume, that L is regular. Then by the Pumping Lemma for Regular Languages, it states also,</em>

<em>The pumping length, p for L such that for any string s ∈ L where |s| ≥ p, s = xyz subject  to the condtions as follows : </em>

<em>(a) |y| > 0 </em>

<em>(b) |xy| ≤ p, and </em>

<em>(c) ∀i > 0, xyi </em>

<em>z ∈ L. </em>

<em>Choose s = 0p10p </em>

<em>. Clearly, |s| ≥ p and s ∈ L. By condition (b) above, it follows is shown. by the first condition x and y are zeros.</em>

<em>for some  k > 0. Per (c), we can take i = 0 and the resulting string will still be in L. Thus,  xy0 </em>

<em>z should be in L. xy0 </em>

<em>z = xz = 0(p−k)10p </em>

<em>It is shown that is is  not in L. This is a  contraption with the pumping lemma.  our assumption that L is regular is  incorrect, and L is not a regular language</em>

A slab-milling operation is performed on a 0.7 m long, 30 mm-wide cast-iron block with a feed of 0.25 mm/tooth and depth of cut
denis23 [38]

Answer:

a)  T_m=1.787min

b)  MRR=35259.7mm^3/min

Explanation:

From the question we are told that:

Cast-iron block Dimension:

Lengthl=0.7m=>700mm

Width w=30mm

FeedF=0.25mm/tooth

Depth dp=3mm

Diameter d=75mm

Number of cutting teeth n=8

Rotation speed N=200rpm

Generally the equation for Approach is mathematically given by

x=\sqrt{Dd-d^2}

X=\sqrt{75*3-3^2}

X=14.69mm

Therefore

Effective length is given as

L_e=Approach +object Length

L_e=700+14.69

L_e=714.69mm

a)

Generally the equation for Machine Time is mathematically given by

T_m=\frac{L_e}{F_m}

Where

F_m=F*n*N

F_m=0.25*8*200

F_m=400

Therefore

T_m=\frac{714.69}{400}

T_m=1.787min

b)

Generally the equation for Material Removal Rate. is mathematically given by

MRR=\frac{L*B*d}{t_m}

MRR=\frac{700*30*3}{1.787}

MRR=35259.7mm^3/min
