It took Eric 11 hours to drive to a football game. On the way home, he was able to increase his average speed by 12mph and make
yarga [219]

Answer:

54mph

Explanation:

Speed is defined as the change in distance of a body with respect to time.

Let x be the speed of Eric on his way to the football game, if he used 11hours to the football game, his distance will be the product of his speed and time taken i.e

Distance = speed × time

Distance= x × 11

Distance = 11x... (1)

During his return journey, his speed increases by 12mph with a return drive in only 9hours i.e speed = x+12 and time is 9hours

Since distance = speed × time (return Journey)

Distance = (x+12)×9

Distance = 9x+84...(2)

Note that the distance to and fro the journey is the same as such we will equate equations 1 and 2 to get his initial speed "x" to have;

11x = 9x+84

11x-9x = 84

2x = 84

x = 42mph

This means that his initial speed on his way to the football game is 42mph. Since his speed increases by 12mph during his return drive, his return speed will be 42mph + 12mph which gives 54mph.

Three objects lie in the x, y plane. Each rotates about the z axis with an angular speed of 5.58 rad/s. The mass m of each objec
QveST [7]

Answer:

a) V1=11.05m/s    V2=92.07m/s     V3=17.24m/s

b) KE = 16238.26J

Explanation:

For tangential speeds:

V1 = \omega*R1=5.58*1.98=11.05m/s

V2 = \omega*R2=5.58*16.5=92.07m/s

V3 = \omega*R3=5.58*3.09=17.24m/s

For the kinetic energy, it can be calculated as:

KE=1/2*\omega^2*(I1+I2+I3)

Where:

I1 = m1*R1^2=5.46*1.98^2=21.4kg.m^2

I2 = m2*R2^2=3.64*16.5^2=990.99kg.m^2

I3 = m3*R3^2=3.21*3.09^2=30.65kg.m^2

So,

KE=1/2*5.58^2*(21.4+990.99+30.65)

KE=16238.26J

A fillet weld has a cross-sectional area of 25.0 mm2and is 300 mm long. (a) What quantity of heat (in joules) is required to acc
HACTEHA [7]

Answer:

77362.56 J

163730.28571 J

Explanation:

A = Area = 25 mm²

l = Length = 300 mm

K = Constant = 3.33\times 10^{-6}

\eta = Heat transfer factor = 0.75

f_m = Melting factor = 0.63

T = Melting point of low carbon steel = 1760 K

Volume of the fillet would be

V=Al\\\Rightarrow V=25\times 300\\\Rightarrow V=7500\ mm^3=7500\times 10^{-9}\ m^3

The unit energy for melting is given by

U_m=KT^2\\\Rightarrow U_m=3.33\times 10^{-6}\times 1760^2\\\Rightarrow U_m=10.315008\ J/mm^3

Heat would be

Q=U_mV\\\Rightarrow Q=10.315008\times 7500\\\Rightarrow Q=77362.56\ J

Heat required to weld is 77362.56 J

Amount of heat generation is given by

Q_g=\dfrac{Q}{\eta f_m}\\\Rightarrow Q_g=\dfrac{77362.56}{0.75\times 0.63}\\\Rightarrow Q_g=163730.28571\ J

The heat generated at the welding source is 163730.28571 J

In which situations is work being done? ( You can pick more than 1)
pickupchik [31]
A balloon expanding would count as work because it is moving and none of the others are. However, I think that James pedaling also works because at least he is using his leg muscles even though he's not moving. He is working because he is exercising himself and that count as working. I would chose James over all of them.
