Alexandra [31]

Explanation:

Let the mass of two objects be m. Both objects move along the same line in opposite directions. Let v and u₂ are speeds of both objects before collision.

After the collision, both objects stick together and move with the speed of 0.1 V the direction of the velocity of the first mass before the collision.

Using the conservation of momentum as :

m_1u_1+m_2u_2=(m_1+m_2)v

V=\dfrac{m_1u_1+m_2u_2}{(m_1+m_2)}

V=\dfrac{m(u_1+u_2)}{(m_1+m_2)}

0.1v=\dfrac{m(v+u_2)}{(2m)}

On solving above equation, u_2=-0.8v

So, the speed of the second mass before the collision is 0.8 v. The negative sign shows that the it moves in opposite direction. Hence, this is the required solution.

A sound wave propagates through a region filled with an ideal gas at constant temperature T. It approaches an acoustically perme
nataly862011 [7]

Answer:

The answer is e.2

Explanation:

We should make use of Snell's refractive law. The arriving wave has a certain velocity at T in a medium, then instantly it reaches a medium (same composition) at T' where velocity would either decrease or increase.

When the incidence angle is 30 °, and we want to make the refraction angle 90 ° such that no sound passes through the barrier (this would be named total internal refraction), so we want the second medium to be "faster" than in the first.

How fast would a 2-kilogram object need to move to have the same kinetic
siniylev [52]

Answer:

11.3 m/s

Explanation:

KE₁ = KE₂

½m₁v₁² = ½m₂v₂²

½ (2 kg) v² = ½ (4 kg) (8 m/s)²

v ≈ 11.3 m/s
