A pillow with mass of 0.3 kg sits on a bed with a coefficient of static friction of 0.6. What is the maximum force of static fri
lys-0071 [83]
The maximum force of static friction is the product of normal force (P) and the coefficient of static friction (c). In a flat surface, normal force is equal to the weight (W) of the body.

                        P = W = mass x acceleration due to gravity

                    P = (0.3 kg) x (9.8 m/s²) = 2.94 kg m/s² = 2.94 N

Solving for the static friction force (F),
                                              F = P x c

                                      F = (2.94 N) x 0.6 = 1.794 N

Therefore, the maximum force of static friction is 1.794 N.

If there are 50 people per square kilometer in a city, and the area of the city is 1.5 × 10 square kilometers. What is the total
qaws [65]

Answer:

750 people

Explanation:

From the question,

Number of people in the city = population density×Area of the city

N = D×A.......................... Equagtion 1

Where N = Number of people in the city, D = population density, A = Area of the city.

Given: D = 50 people per square kilometer, A = 1.5×10 square kilometer.

Substitute into equation 1

N = 50(1.5×10)

N = 750 people.

Hence the total number of people in the city is 750 people.

A dart with mass md is launched toward a block of mass mb that is suspended from a string of length L. The dart is moving horizo
Yuki888 [10]

Answer:

A) Impulse is the same for both the objects

B) The higher is the speed, the greater will be the height.

Explanation:

Part a)

The time of interaction of the two bodies i.e the hanging mass and the stick is same. Thus, force caused by dart on the block = force caused by block on the dart. Hence, impulse is the same for both the objects.

Part B

The energy will be conserved in the entire reaction process

Hence, Kinetic energy = potential energy

0.5Mv^2 = gh(md+mb)

H is directly proportional to the square of speed.

Hence, the higher is the speed, the greater will be the height.
