What does the ideal gas law allow a scientist to calculate that the other gas laws do not?

The ideal gas law allows a scientist to calculate the number of moles that the other gas laws do not. The ideal gas law is given as

P V = n RT

rearranging the equation by dividing both side by "RT", we get

PV/(RT) = nRT/(RT)

n = PV/(RT)

inserting the values of pressure, volume and temperature, we get number of moles.

The ideal gas law allows the scientists to calculate the number of moles of the gas whereas other gas laws deal with the temperature, pressure and volume of the gas only.

Further Explanation:

The ideal gas law for an ideal gas establishes the relation between the pressure, volume, temperature and the number of moles of a gas. According to the ideal gas law, the product of the pressure and volume of the gas is directly proportional to the product of the number of moles and the temperature of the gas.

The ideal gas law can be represented mathematically as.

{PV} ∞ {nT}

Remove the proportionality constant.

\boxed{\text{}PV=nRT}

Here, P is the pressure of gas, V is the volume of the gas, is the number of moles, R is the gas constant and T is the temperature of the gas.

The other gas laws are the Boyle’s Law and the Charles’ Law. The Boyle’s Law states that at constant temperature, the pressure of a gas is inversely proportional to the volume of the gas.

On the other hand, the Charles’ Law states that at constant pressure, the volume of a gas is directly proportional to the temperature of the gas.

It shows that the other gas laws only establish the relation between the pressure, temperature and the volume of the gas but do not deal with the number of the moles of gas. The number of moles can only be known from the ideal gas law.

Evaluate the use of hydrogen as a fuel. Explain how hydrogen is produced. Write about the environmental impact of using diesel a
posledela

Explanation:

Hydrogen is used as a fuel because it has a high calorific value per molecule when burned in air and also burns explosively. When burned in air, it reacts with oxygen to produce water which is safe for the environment. This same property of hydrogen of high explosiveness makes it difficult to store safely.

Hydrogen can be produced through the electrolysis of water. However this is high energy consuming. The most common method is called steam-methane reforming. Methane from hydrocarbon is mixed with steam under high pressure and reacts to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide.

Diesel and petrol and other petroleum products when burned produce carbon dioxide which is a greenhouse gas. Greenhouse gases when increasing in the atmosphere, cause greenhouse effect that results in global warming.

How many nanoseconds does it take light to travel 3.50 ft in vacuum??
Tresset [83]

light speed in vacuum = 3.8 * 10^8

Distance (Given) = 3.5 ft

now, time = distance/speed = 3.50 / 3.8 * 10^8 = 9.21 * 10^-9 s = 9.21 nanoseconds

So, your answer is 9.21 nano-seconds...

A batter hits a foul ball. The 0.14-kg baseball that was approaching him at 40 m/s leaves the bat at 30 m/s in a direction perpe
swat32

Answer:

7 kgm/s or 7 Ns

Explanation:

Since the velocity are perpendicular to each other, the impulses will also be perpendicular.

From newton's second law of motion,

Impulse = mass×velocity

I = mv............. Equation 1

For the horizontal,

I₁ = mv₁......... Equation 2

Given: m = 0.14 kg, v₁ = 40 m/s

Substitute into equation 2

I₁ = 40(0.14)

I₁ = 5.6 kgm/s

Also for the vertical,

I₂ = mv₂.............. Equation 3

Given: m= 0.14 kg, v₂ = 30 m/s

Substitute into equation 3

I₂ = 0.14(30)

I₂ = 4.2 kgm/s

Using Pythagoras to get the resultant impulse

I = √(I₁²+I₂²)................ Equation 4

Substitute the value of I₁ and I₂ into equation 4

I = √(5.6²+4.2²)

I = √(31.36+17.64)

I = √49

I = 7 kgm/s or 7 Ns

A box experiencing a gravitational force of 600 N. is being pulled to the right with a force of 250 N. 825 N. frictional force a
lidiya [134]

Answer:A

Explanation:

Explanation:

Given that,

Gravitational force = 600 N

Frictional force = 25 N

Pulled by the Force = 250 N

We know that,

The gravitational force in downward and normal force act in upward. the frictional force in left side and the box pulled by the force to the right side.

The balance equation is along y-axis

The box will not move in y-axis therefore, the net force in the y-axis will be zero.

Hence, The net force in the y-direction will be zero.
