Frictional force  = 5N

Unknown:

Acceleration of the object = ?

Solution:

The net force on the object;

     Fapplied - Frictional force = net force (m x a)

 m is the mass of the body

 a is the acceleration

Input the parameters and solve;

    25 - 5 = 1.4 x a

         1.4a  = 20

             a = \frac{20}{1.4}   = 14.3m/s²

         

The magnitude of the acceleration of the object is 14.3m/s²
