Answer:

The forces present in this context are two:

  1. The pushing force by the person which is often called the "applied force".
  2. The friction force due to the surface of the ground interacting with the box.

Basically, these two are about the movement, that is, they are in the same dimension. However, there are other forces present, but they don't influence the movement, because they are vertical, and the movement is horizontal.

These forces are:

  1. Weight due to the box mass and gravity.
  2. Normal force which is the reaction effect of the weight pushing down. The normal force is equal and opposite to the weight.

So, basically, in this contexts, we will only consider horizontal forces, the two first ones, because they intervene in the movement, and the vertical ones don't affect anything, because they are perpendicular to the movement.

Answer:

When a custodian pushes a large crate across the gym floor, forces acting on the crate are the one applied by the custodian, frictional force acting in the opposite direction of motion acting between the surface of crate and floor and reaction force (normal force) acting in upward direction normal to the surface.

A transformer connected to a 120-V (rms) ac line is to supply 12,500 V (rms) for a neon sign. To reduce shock hazard, a fuse is
Tamiku [17]

Answer:

a) 104

b) 106

c) 884 mA

Explanation:

The ratio of the transformer is given by:

N=\frac{V_{out}}{V_{in}}=\frac{12500V}{120V}=104

We need to know the current in the primary in order to obtain the power applied.

I_1=I_2*N=8.50mA*104=884mA\\\\P=I*V=884*10^{-3}A*120V=106W\\

The current rating of the fuse is the current on the primary, 884mA as we calculated before in order to obtain the power.

How many electrons should be in an atom’s valence shell (with the exception of hydrogen and helium) to become stable? 2 4 6 8.
podryga [215]

Answer:

8

Explanation:

octet rule: Atoms lose, gain, or share electrons in order to have a full valence shell of eight electrons. Hydrogen is an exception because it can hold a maximum of two electrons in its valence level.
