Answer:

total pressure inside the cylinder is 6.7 atm

molar fraction of O_2 is 0.46

mole fraction of Ar is 0.041

Explanation:

To calculate the total pressure inside the vessel we must add the partial pressures of each gas

Partial pressures

3.5 atm N_2\\ 2.8 atm O_2\\ 0.25 atm Ar\\0.15 atm He

P_t= 3.5+2.8+0.25+0.15= 6.7

total pressure inside the cylinder is 6.7 atm

One way to calculate the molar fraction of a gas is with the following formula

X_a=\frac{P_a}{P_t}

X_O_2=\frac{P_O_2}{P_t}\\ X_O_2=\frac{2.8atm}{6.1atm}\\X_O_2=0.46

X_{Ar} =\frac{P_{Ar} }{P_t}\\ X_{Ar} =\frac{0.25atm}{6.1atm}\\X_{Ar} =0.041

The total pressure is 6.7 atm.  The mole fractions of O₂ and Ar are 0.42 and 0.037.

<em>p</em>(Tot) = <em>p</em>(N₂) + <em>p</em>(O₂) + <em>p</em>(Ar) + <em>p</em>(He) = 3.5 atm + 2.8 atm + 0.25 atm + 0.15 atm = 6.7 atm

χ(O₂) = p(O₂)/p(Tot) = 2.8 atm/6.7 atm = 0.42

χ(Ar) = p(Ar)/p(Tot) = 0.25 atm/6.7 atm = 0.037

The molarity of a solution prepared by dissolving 17.0 g of hydrochloric acid (HCl (aq)) in 133 mL of water is ___ M (2 decimal
Lera25 [3.4K]

The molarity is 3.50 M/L.

Explanation:

Molarity is found to know the amount of the solute ions present in the given volume of solution. So we determine it using the ratio of the moles of solute to the volume of the solution.

As here the weight of the solute which is hydrochloric acid is given as 17g, so we need to find the moles of it. This can be done by dividing the given amount of HCl with the molecular weight of HCl.

Molecular weight of HCl = 1.01 + 35.45 = 36.46 g/mol

So the number of moles of HCl present here will be

No.of moles = \frac{17}{36.46} =0.466

So, 0.466 moles of HCl is present in the solution.

Molarity = \frac{No.of moles of solute}{Volume of solution} = \frac{0.466}{133*10^{-3} }

Molarity = 3.50 M/L

Thus, the molarity is 3.50 M/L.

How many atoms of Hydrogen are in 4 C3H5O12? (10 points)
vlada-n [284]

Answer:

There are 20 atoms in hydrogen.

Explanation:

Multiply Coefficient with Hydrogens subscript. In this case the coefficient is a 4 so you multiply that with Hydrogens subscript which is 5. So it would be (4)(5)=20

if the volume of a gas contracted from 648 mL to 0.15L, what was its final pressure if it started at a pressure of 485 kpa
bija089 [108]

Answer:

2100 kPa

Explanation:

The temperature is constant, so the only variables are pressure and volume.

We can use Boyle’s Law.

p₁V₁ = p₂V₂     Divide both sides of the equation by V₂

p₂ = p₁ × V₁/V₂

p₁ = 485 kPa; V₁ =              648 mL

p₂ = ?;            V₂ = 0.15 L = 150 mL      Calculate p₂

p₂ = 485 × 648/150

p₂ = 2100 kPa
