You are writing a short adventure story for your English class. In your story, two submarines on a secret mission need to arrive

at a place in the middle of the Atlantic ocean at the same time. They start out at the same time from positions equally distant from the rendezvous point. They travel at different velocities but both go in a straight line. The first submarine travels at an average velocity of 20 km/hr for the first 500 km, 40 km/hr for the next 500 km, 30 km/hr for the next 500 km and 50 km/hr for the final 500 km. In the plot, the second submarine is required to travel at a constant velocity, so the captain needs to determine the size of that velocity. What is that velocity?

Answer:

V = 31.17km/h

Explanation:

The average velocity is given by:

V = \frac{d}{t}   where d is the same distance traveled by the first submarine and t is the the same amout of time that it took.

d = 500km + 500km + 500km+ 500km = 2000km

t = t1 + t2 + t3 + t4

where

t1 = \frac{d1}{V1} = \frac{500km}{20km/h}=25h

t2 = \frac{d2}{V2} = \frac{500km}{40km/h}=12.5h

t3 = \frac{d3}{V3} = \frac{500km}{30km/h}=16.67h

t4 = \frac{d4}{V4} = \frac{500km}{50km/h}=10h

So, t = 25 + 12.5 + 16.67 + 10 = 64.17h

And finally:

V = \frac{d}{t} = \frac{2000km}{64.17h}=31.17km/h

Dmitriy789 [7]

Answer:

1472.98 m

Explanation:

Data provided:

Speed of circular looping, v = 340 m/s

Acceleration, a = 8g

here,

g is the acceleration due to the gravity = 9.81 m/s²

Now,

the centripetal acceleration is given as,

a=\frac{v^2}{r}

r is the radius of the loop

on substituting the respective values, we get

8\times9.81=\frac{340^2}{r}

or

r = 1472.98 m

dolphi86 [110]
Newton's third law of motion states that for any action, there is equal and opposite force. For a person standing on a floor, the action force is the weight and thus the floor must exert an opposite and equal reaction force equivalent in magnitude to the weight of the person.

In this regard, statement 3. is correct.
