You can tell whether velocity is changing because velocity is the rate/speed of motion of something in a direction either it increase or decrease in the speed or a change in its direction that will causes its velocity to change.

What is the most effective way to protect dry lands from desertification
Sonja [21]

Answer: Planting a tree belt.

Explanation:

The most effective method by which the desertification of the soil can be controlled is by planting more and more trees.

The process of desertification occurs when there is a loss of vegetation, water bodies and animals  from a particular area. Loss of trees makes the area look like desert.

So, planting trees along with some irrigation will help to cope with problem.

Three forces act on an object. a 3 n force acts due east and a 8 n force acts due north. if the net force on the object is zero,
Bingel [31]

The third force C is in the opposite direction of the sum of the first two forces, A+B, but the magnitude is the same as A+B

Since A & B are at right angles we can just use Pythagoras and trig:

A+B magnitude = sqrt(6^2 + 3^2) = 6.71

A+B angle = arctan(6/3) deg north of east = 63.4 deg (first quadrant)

So C magnitude = 6.71 (same as A+B)

[C angle = 63.4 deg south of west (third quadrant) = -180+63.4 deg polar = -116.6 deg

A 12000 kg boat is moving 4.25 m/s. Its engine pushes 9200 N forward, but the current pushes back at 12,500 N. How much times do
Verizon [17]

Answer:

15.5 seconds

Explanation:

Apply Newton's second law:

∑F = ma

-12500 + 9200 = (12000) a

a = -0.275 m/s²

v = at + v₀

0 = (-0.275) t + 4.25

t = 15.5 s

It takes the boat 15.5 seconds to stop.

Explain how to correctly add vectors in 2-D
Simora [160]
To add vectors we can use the head to tail method (Figure 1).
Place the tail of one vector at the tip of the other vector.
Draw an arrow from the tail of the first vector to the tip of the second vector. This new vector is the sum of the first two vectors.
