Here, we are asked to calculate the total distance and displacement for three different times.

Before solving the question, first we have to understand the distance and displacement.

Displacement is the minimum distance travelled between two points. Hence, it is a vector quantity. On the other hand, the distance travelled is a scalar quantity.

The total displacement will be calculated by vector addition while total distance will follow algebraic addition.

Let us consider Ram travelled 3 km towards north from his home to office in 1 hour. The highway is straight. He reached at his office and saw that his office was closed. So, he came back. He stopped at shop for 2 minutes which was 2 km away from his office. Then he started his journey and reached him home.

Let his first distance travelled from home to office is s_{1} =\ 3\ km

Here, the displacement is also the same in magnitude with distance travelled and it is directed towards north.

The distance travelled by Ram from office to the shop s_{2} =2\ km

Here, the displacement is 2 km towards south.

The distance travelled by Ram from the shop to the office s_{3} =\ 1 \ k m

Here, the displacement is 1 km towards south.

Here, the total distance travelled  [s]\ =\ s_{1} +s_{2} +s_{3}

                                                                =3\ km+2\ km+1\ km

                                                                =6\ km

Now we have to calculate the total displacement. Here, the total displacement is zero.

It is because the initial and final points of his journey is same.

Anni [7]

It is overhead at the equator, it is because the sun ray’s will be moving vertically as this will be directed at the equator. It is because if it moves vertically, it will hit or overhead the equator and this usually happens in spring and fall.

If 20 beats are produced within one second, which of the following frequencies could possibly be held by two sound waves traveli
NeTakaya

Answer:

D. 22 Hz and 42 Hz

Explanation:

  • When two waves with different frequency travelling in the same medium meet each other, they produce an interference pattern called beat.
  • <em><u>The frequency of the beat produced is equivalent to </u></em><em><u>the difference between the individual frequencies of the two waves involved.</u></em>
  • <em><u>Therefore; in this case since the frequency of the beat is 20 Hz, that is from 20 beats per second.</u></em>
  • We need to find a pair from the choices whose frequency difference is 20 Hz.
  • This happens to be choice D. 22 Hz and 42 Hz,  that is 42 Hz - 22 Hz = 20 Hz

A potential energy function is given by U(x)=(3.00J)x+(1.00J/m2)x3. What is the force function F(x) (in newtons) that is associa
Anit [1.1K]

Answer:

F(x)=-3 N - (3N)x^2

Explanation:

The force is defined as the negative of the derivative of the potential energy:

F=-\frac{dU}{dx}

If we use the potential energy function given in this problem:

U(x)=3.00 x + 1.00 x^3

and we calculate the force, we get:

F(x)=-\frac{d}{dx}(3x+x^3)=-3-3x^2

So, the force is

F(x)=-3 N - (3N)x^2

Before the skydiver opens the parachute, his velocity would be increasing greatly as much as 9.8 m/s². Opening the parachute would increase the surface area to which air may cause resistance. The skydiver then reaches his terminal velocity.
