A rabbit is moving in the positive x-direction at 2.70 m/s when it spots a predator and accelerates to a velocity of 13.3 m/s al

ong the positive y-axis, all in 2.40 s. Determine the x-component and the y-component of the rabbit's acceleration. (Enter your answers in m/s2. Indicate the direction with the signs of your answers.)

Answer:

<u />a_x=-1.125\ m.s^{-2}<u />

a_y=5.5416\ m.s^{-2}

Explanation:

Given:

  • velocity of rabbit in positive x direction, v_x=2.7\ m.s^{-1}
  • velocity of rabbit in positive y direction, v_y=13.3\ m.s^{-1}
  • time taken to change the direction of velocity, t=2.4\ s

When the velocity is in x direction then the y component is zero and vice-versa.

<u>The velocity in x direction goes from </u>2.7\ m.s^{-1} to\ 0\ m.s^{-1}<u>, therefore acceleration:</u>

<u />a_x=\frac{0-2.7}{2.4}<u />

<u />a_x=-1.125\ m.s^{-2}<u />

<u>The velocity in y direction goes from </u>0\ m.s^{-1}\ to\ 13.3\ m.s^{-1}<u>, therefore acceleration:</u>

a_y=\frac{13.3-0}{2.4}

a_y=5.5416\ m.s^{-2}

Sallys physical education teacher timed her run and recorded the time and distance in the table below. What is her average speed
Fudgin [204]
Answer: B) 2.5 m/s

Explanation: Find the average of the time and distance, and see how far they go in only 1 second.

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 15
15 divided by 5 = 3

3 seconds

2 + 5 + 7 + 10 + 12 = 36
36 divided by 5 = 7.2

7.2m per 3 seconds.

7.2 divided by 3 = 2.4

Therefore, the answer is technically 2.4m/s

A glider is gliding through the air at a height of 416 meters with a speed of 45.2 m/s. The glider
julia-pushkina [17]

There's not enough information to find an answer.

I think the idea here is that in descending (416 - 278) = 138 meters,
the glider gives up some gravitational potential energy, which
becomes kinetic energy at the lower altitude.  This is all well and
good, but we can't calculate the difference in potential energy
without knowing the mass of the glider.

I NEED HELP I AM SO CONFUSED, WILL GIVE BRAIN.
MakcuM [25]

Answer:

210

Explanation:

A ball rolls horizontally off the cliff at a speed of 30 m/s. It takes 7 seconds for the ball to hit the ground. What is the height of the cliff and the horizontal distance traveled by the ball?

S = (1/2)*9.8 m/s^2 * 7^2 = 240.1 m if the ball is very dense so air resistance, and therefore terminal velocity, can be ignored.

S = v * t = 30 m/s * 7 s = 210 m for the horizontal distance, again assuming negligible air resistance.
