The speed of sound at sea level is normally about 340 m/s. A car honks itshorn as it drives toward an observer. The frequency of

the horn is 800 Hz, but theobserver hears an 860-Hz pitch. What is the velocity of the car?

Answer:

Explanation:

Let the velocity of car be v . We shall apply doppler's effect . Here the car is running towards the observer .

f = f₀ x( \frac{V}{V-v} )

Here f is apparent frequency f₀ is true frequency , V is velocity of sound and v is velocity of source .

Putting the values

860 = 800 x  340 / (340 - v )

1.075 = 340 /  (340 - v )

365.5 - 1.075 v = 340

25.5 = 1.075 v

v = 23.72 m /s

Which of the following scenerios fits all of the criteria for the two-source interference equations to be valid?
vekshin1

Answer:

answer the correct  is B

Explanation:

For the interference phenomenon to occur, some conditions must be met.

* You must have a light in phase and coherent, for this you can for a light from an incandescent source through a single slit, the light that comes out is coherent

* This light must strike two slits

* the light that passes through the slits must hit a distant screen and be able to see the phenomenon of constructive interference

when examining the different answer the correct one is B

Microwave ovens have a plate that rotates at a rate of about 7.0 rev/min. What is this in revolutions per second?
Lera25 [3.4K]

Answer:

The value is  w =  0.1167 \ rev/second

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

    The rate at which the plate rotates is  w =7.0 \ rev/min

Generally the revolution per second is mathematically represented as

       w =  \frac{7.0}{60}

=>    w =  0.1167 \ rev/second
