A block with a mass of 0.28 kg is attached to a horizontal spring. The block is pulled back from its equilibrium position until

the spring exerts a force of 1.0 N on the block. When the block is released, it oscillates with a frequency of 1.2 Hz. How far was the block pulled back before being released?

Answer:

Explanation:

For spring

n=\sqrt{\frac{k}{m} }

where n is frequency of oscillation and k is force constant and m is mass

Putting the values

1.2=\sqrt{\frac{k}{.28} }

k = .4032 N/m

F= k x

where F is force , k is force constant and x is extension

Putting the given values

1 = .4032 x

x = 2.48 m

The sun appears to move through the background stars. This apparent motion would not exist if:_________.
otez555 [7]

Answer:

b) the earth did not orbit the sun

Explanation:

The sun appears to move through the background stars due to parallax . Parallax is a phenomenon when the near object appears to move faster than the distant object . If we travel in a train , the near object like electric poles on rail track or trees and fields nearby appear to move faster against the distant background .

Hence when the earth moves around the sun , the sun appears to move against the background the stars which are far away . Had earth remained stationary at a place on its orbit around the sun , the sun would have appeared stationary against the background the stars .

The 1994 Winter Olympics included the aerials competition in skiing. In this event skiers speed down a ramp that slopes sharply
kykrilka [37]

Answer: Got It!

Explanation: let s = speed at launch

v = 0 at top = s sin 63 - g t

so at top

t = s sin 63/g = .0909 s

h = 13.6 = s sin 63 t - 4.9 t^2

13.6 = .081s^2 - .0405 s^2

s^2 = 336

s = 18.3 m/s
