1. What is the potential energy of a 5.0-kg
babymother [125]

Answer:

  C.  98 J

Explanation:

The appropriate formula is ...

  PE = mgh . . . . . m is mass; below, m is meters

  PE = (5 kg)(9.8 m/s^2)(2 m) = 98 kg·m^2/s^2

  PE = 98 J

In a circuit of 2 lamps in parallel if the current in one lamp is 2a the current in the other lamp is?
ioda

In a circuit having 2 lamps are connected in parallel to a battery

then the two lamps will be having the same potential as the battery

i.e

V_{1} = V_{2} = V_{battery}

As per Ohm's law,

I_{1} = \frac{V_{1}}{R_{1}} and I_{2} = \frac{V}{R_{2} }

In other words, each lamp's current is inversely related to its individual resistance. We only know the current in one of the bulbs in this specific instance. We would therefore need further information in order to calculate the current in the other light. Therefore, there isn't enough data to make a statement.

Under the assumption that all physical parameters, including temperature, remain constant, Ohm's law asserts that "the voltage across a conductor is directly proportional to the current flowing through it".

The kinetic energy of a body of mass 15 kg is 30 joule. What is its momentum?
lys-0071 [83]

This problem is a piece o' cake, IF you know the formulas for both kinetic energy and momentum.  So here they are:

Kinetic energy = (1/2) · (mass) · (speed²)

Momentum = (mass) · (speed)

So, now ... We know that

==> mass = 15 kg,  and

==> kinetic energy = 30 Joules

Take those pieces of info and pluggum into the formula for kinetic energy:

Kinetic energy = (1/2) · (mass) · (speed²)

30 Joules = (1/2) · (15 kg) · (speed²)

60 Joules = (15 kg) · (speed²)

4 m²/s² = speed²

Speed = 2 m/s

THAT's all you need !  Now you can find momentum:

Momentum = (mass) · (speed)

Momentum = (15 kg) · (2 m/s)

<em>Momentum = 30 kg·m/s</em>

<em>(Notice that in this problem, although their units are different, the magnitude of the KE is equal to the magnitude of the momentum.  When I saw this, I wondered whether that's always true.  So I did a little more work, and I found out that it isn't ... it's a coincidence that's true for this problem and some others, but it's usually not true.)</em>

How does the saturation of a solution affect crystal formation? In your own words please
ryzh [129]

The term saturated solution is used in chemistry to define a solution in which no more solute can be dissolved in the solvent. It is understood that saturation of the solution has been achieved when any additional substance that is added results in a solid precipitate or is let off as a gas.
