Explain briefly why the intensity reflected off the back surface of the film (i.e., the right surface, where there is a liquid-t

o-air interface) is 2.78% of the intensity of the beam that was transmitted through the front surface.

Explanation:

Taking the incident light to be traveling in the + x-direction so that it is at normal incidence to the left side of the film(referred to as the "Front side"). This means the beam transmitted into the liquid is essentially as strong as the incident beam.

Almost all the light that is reflected off the back surface will get through the front surface. (But only 2.78% gets re-reflected off the the front surface back to the right) this means that there are two beams reflected to the - x-direction, one from the front surface and one from the back, and these beams are of almost equal intensity.

Hope this is helpful. Thanks

A key falls from a bridge that is 44 m above the water. It falls directly into a model boat, moving with constant velocity, that
Lady_Fox [76]

The time t it takes for the key to fall 44 m is

44\,\mathrm m=\dfrac12\left(9.8\,\dfrac{\mathrm m}{\mathrm s^2}\right)t^2\implies t=3.0\,\mathrm s

(notice I'm taking the downward direction to be positive)

The boat, moving at a presumably constant speed, then has 3.0 s to travel 19 m to the point of impact, which means its speed must be

v=\dfrac{19\,\mathrm m}{3.0\,\mathrm s}=6.3\,\dfrac{\mathrm m}{\mathrm s}

Tsunamis are fast-moving waves often generated by underwater earthquakes. In the deep ocean their amplitude is barely noticable,
vovangra [49]

Answer:

v =163.95 m/s

Explanation:

Given that,

The wavelength of wave, \lambda=646\ km=646\times 10^3\ m

Distance covered, d=3630\ km=3630\times 10^3\ m

We need to find the speed of the wave. We know that,

speed = distance/time

So,

v=\dfrac{3630\times 10^3\ m}{22140\ s}\\\\=163.95\ m/s

So, the speed of the wave is equal to 163.95 m/s.

Imagine that a car is traveling from your left to your right at a constant velocity. Which two actions could the driver take tha
Alona [7]

Answer:

(a). The speed of car will increases.

(b). The speed of car will decreases.

Explanation:

Given that,

A car is traveling from your left to your right at a constant velocity.

We need to find two actions could the driver take

Using given data

(a). If the velocity and acceleration of car to the right

It means the velocity and acceleration of car is in same direction then the speed of car will increases.

(b). If the velocity to the right and the acceleration to the left

It means the velocity and acceleration of car is in opposite direction then the speed of car will decreases.

Hence, (a). The speed of car will increases.

(b). The speed of car will decreases.
