Temperature changes causes the average kinetic energy of molecules to increase or decrease. If the kinetic energies of particles are increasing, the temperature must have been on rise.

Part A Determine the magnitude of the x component of F using scalar notation. Fx F x = nothing lb Request Answer Part B Determin
maksim [4K]

As we know that force F makes an angle of 60 degree with X axis

so the X component is given as

cos60 = \frac{F_x}{F}

now we have

F_x = F cos60

F_x = 0.50 F

Similarly we know that force F makes an angle of 45 degree with Y axis

so the X component is given as

cos45 = \frac{F_y}{F}

now we have

F_y = F cos45

F_y = 0.707 F

Now for the component along z axis we know that

F_x^2 + F_y^2 + F_z^2 = F^2

now plug in all components

(0.707 F)^2 + (0.50 F)^2 + F_z^2 = F^2

0.5 F^2 + 0.25 F^2 + F_z^2 = F^2

F_z^2 = F^2(1 - 0.75)

F_z^2 = 0.25 F^2

F_z = 0.5 F

A cue ball with mass 170g hits a stationary number 8 ball, which has mass 160g. The cue ball
forsale [732]

Answer:

0.49 m/s

Explanation:

The law of conservation of linear momentum states that the sum of momentum in a system before and after collision are same. Momentum is a product of mass and velocity of an object hence in this case

m_cu_c+m_8u_8=m_cv_u+m_8v_8

Where m represent mass, u and v represent the initial and final velocities respectively, subscripts c and 8 represent cue ball and number 8 ball respectively.

Since number 8 ball is initially at rest, its initial velocity is zero. Replacing mass of cue ball with 170 g while mass of number 8 ball with 160g, then taking final velocity of cue ball as 0.2 m/s and final velocity of 8 ball as 0.3 m/s then we get

170u_c+160*0=170*0.2+170*0.3\\u_c\approx 0.49 m/s
