f the force (at 90∘ to the lever arm) applied is 15 N and it is applied at 2.0 m from the pivot point (point of rotation), what

15*2=30Nm of torque
the fact that it is 90 degrees to the lever means that the force is transferred directly tot he pivot; at a different angle you would multiply your answer by the sin of the angle to find the side of the triangle the force is exerted, but at 90 degrees sin(90)=1, so multiplying 30Nm by 1 is the same result.
If you are confused by this I can try to explain it further

What effect does a tripling of the net force have upon the acceleration of the object?
dsp73
The formula of net Force is:F = mawhere m is the mass of the objecta is the acceleration of the object
thus, if we triple the net force applied to the object:
3F = maa = 3F / m
The acceleration is also tripled since the force is directly proportional to the acceleration.

A train travels 225 kilometers in 2.5 hours. What is the train’s average speed?
ella [17]
The train travells at he speed of 225 km/2.5h
now
225km=225000m
2.5 hr=150min=9000s
=>avg sp of train is=225000/9000s=25m/s

A passenger train travels 392 mi in the same time that it takes a freight train to travel 322 mi. If the passenger train travels
Yuri [45]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

distance traveled by  Passenger train is d_1=392\ mi

distance traveled by  Freight train is d_2=322\ mi

Both take same time to travel

suppose speed of freight train is x mph

so speed of passenger train is 20+x mph

we know time=\frac{distance}{speed}

t=\frac{392}{20+x}=\frac{322}{x}

392x=322x+322\times 20

70x=322\times 20

x=92\ mph

speed of passenger train x+20=112\ mph

Lonnie pitches a baseball of mass 0.500 kg. The ball arrives at home plate with a speed of 35.0 m/s and is batted straight back
Andreyy89

Answer:

Explanation:

The impulse equation is

Δp = FΔt, where Δp = final momentum - initial momentum, F is the Force exerted on an object, and Δt is the change in time. In this equation,the entire right side defines the impulse. In other words, FΔt is the impulse; thus the change in momentum an object experiences is due to its change in impulse and is directly proportional to it.

Therefore, once we find the change in momentum, that is the impulse the object experiences. Δp = final momentum - initial momentum, where

p = mv and p is momentum.

p_f=(.500)(50.0) so

p_f=25.0 and

p_i=(.500)(35.0) so

p_i=17.5; therefore,

Δp = 25.0 - 17.5 = 7.5\frac{kg*m}{s} which is the unit for momentum
