The figure shows five electric charges. Four charges with the magnitude of the charge 2.0 nC form a square with the size a = 4.0

cm . Positive charge with the magnitude of q = 5.5 nC is placed in the center of the square.
A) What is the magnitude of the force on the 5.5 nC charge in the middle of the figure due to the four other charges?

B) What is the direction of the force on the 5.5 nC charge in the middle of the figure due to the four other charges?

Considering the four electric charges forming a square with magnitude of charge of 2.0 nC on each. :

A) Magnitude of the force on the 5.5 nC charge in the middle of the figure = 3.48 * 10^-4 N

B) Direction of the force on the 5.5 nC charge in the middle of the figure = Leftward ( negative x -axis )

Using the given data :

size of square = 4 cm

magnitudes of four charges = 2.0 nC

<u> a) </u><u>magnitude</u><u> of the force on the center charge </u>

Electric force between two point charges = F = \frac{1}{4\pi *E_{o} } \frac{q1q2}{r^2} ----- ( 1 )

where ; \frac{1}{4\pi E_{o} } = 9 * 10^9 Nm^2/C^2

step 1 ; find r ( distance between charges )

r² = ( 2 )² + ( 2 )² = 8 cm²

back to equation 1

F = 9 * 10⁹ * \frac{2 * 10^{-9} *  (5.5 * 10^{-9})  }{8*10^{-4} } =  1.23 * 10^-4  N

∴ magnitude of the force on the center charge ( Fnet )= 4F cos 45°

        = 4 * ( 1.23 * 10^-4 ) * \frac{1}{\sqrt{2} }  = 3.48 * 10^-4 N

b) The direction of the force at the center is along the negative x-axis ( leftward )

Car A hits car B (initially at rest and of equal mass) from behind while going 15 m/s Immediately after the collision, car B mov
Mamont248 [21]

Given :

Initial speed of car A is 15 m/s and initial speed of car B is zero.

Final speed of car A is zero and final speed of car B is 10 m/s.

To Find :

What fraction of the initial kinetic energy is lost in the collision.

Solution :

Initial kinetic energy is :

K.E_i = \dfrac{15^2m}{2} + 0\\\\K.E_i = \dfrac{225 m}{2}

Final kinetic energy is :

K.E_f = \dfrac{10^2m}{2} + 0\\\\K.E_f = \dfrac{100m}{2}

Now, fraction of initial kinetic energy loss is :

Loss = \dfrac{\dfrac{225m}{2}-\dfrac{100m}{2}}{\dfrac{100m}{2}}\\\\Loss = \dfrac{125}{100}\\\\Loss = 1.25

Therefore, fraction of initial kinetic energy loss in the collision is 1.25 .

The planet Saturn has a mass that is 95 times Earth's mass and a radius that is 9.4 times Earth's radius. What is the accelerati
ziro4ka [17]

Answer:

10.55111 m/s²

Explanation:

M = Mass of Saturn = 95\times 5.972\times 10^{24}\ kg

r = Radius of Saturn = 9.4\times 6.371\times 10^6\ m

G = Gravitational constant = 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ m³/kgs²

Acceleration due to gravity is given by

g=\dfrac{GM}{r^2}\\\Rightarrow g=\dfrac{6.67\times 10^{-11}\times 95\times 5.972\times 10^{24}}{(9.4\times 6.371\times 10^6)^2}\\\Rightarrow g=10.55111\ m/s^2

The acceleration due to gravity on Saturn is 10.55111 m/s²

Why does a vibrating simple pendulum not to produce any sound
Gelneren [198K]
It does produce 'sound' ... a compression wave traveling through the air. But your ears don't hear a sound that's vibrating less than 20 or 30 times every second. If you could swing your pendulum that fast, you could hear the sound of its vibrations pushing the air around.
