The resultant velocity of the canoe is 2.88 m/s.

The Resultant velocity of the river can be calculated using Pythagoras Theorem

Pythagoras Theorem:

In a right angle triangle, The square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the square of the two other sides.

Note: In a cardinal point, The north and the east are at right angle.

Formula:

 • a² = b²+c²............... Euqation 1

Where:

 • a = resultant velocity of the canoe
 • b = speed of the canoe
 • c = velocity of the flowing river.

From the question,

Given:

 • b = 2.4 m/s
 • c = 1.6 m/s

Substitute these values into equation 1

 • a² = 2.4²+1.6²
 • a² = 5.76+2.56
 • a² = 8.32
 • a = √8.32
 • a = 2.88 m/s

Hence, the resultant velocity of the canoe is 2.88 m/s

The form of energy that can move from place to place across the universe is . On Earth, the main source of this energy is .
serg [7]

The form of energy that can move from place to place across the universe is light energy. On earth, the main source of this energy is Sun. Most of the light energy comes from the sun because it is the primary source of all the energies. The food, fossil fuels, movement of winds, etc all exists due to Sun. Without sun, there won't be any light energy on the earth. In all the processes which occur on earth has a direct or indirect involvement of light energy which comes from sun.

Answer:

Find the explanation below.

Explanation:

Earth is properly designed to support life. This is seen in the favorable temperature that supports life, the water cycle that recycles water for plant and animal life, the atmosphere, energy, and nutrients.

1. Temperature: The temperature which is regulated by the different weather conditions such as the rains, snows, dry seasons all help to maintain a stable condition for life.

2. Water: The water cycle through processes like evaporation, condensation, precipitation, helps to ensure that there is never a lack of water in the earth. The numerous water bodies like the seas, oceans, rivers, lakes, also provide a habitat for some living things. Water makes up 70% of the earth.

3. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is a mixture of gases in the right proportions that are necessary for life. Oxygen, Nitrogen, Carbon, etc are released and inhaled by man and other living things. They are also involved in so many biochemical reactions that help in metabolism and catabolism.

4. Energy: Energy generated from the sun and within the earth is stored in various forms and is always conserved. This energy is converted to different states such as the potential, chemical, kinetic, mechanical forms to get work done and to release heat.

5. Nutrients: Though cycles such as the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and phosphorous cycles, the earth maintains its stock of essential nutrients that help to sustain life.

In physics, why would an equation like y=mx+b be plotted as a straight line rather than as a parabola, as is done in math?
notka56 [123]

Answer:

Explanation:

In Both Physics and Math

y=mx+b is plotted as straight line where

m=slope of line

b=intercept on Y-axis

whereas Equation of parabola is something like this

y^2=4ax

or

x^2=4ay

Math is a tool to solve Physics problems so equations are same in math and physics
