Cheetah mothers perform a number of different behaviors. They and their cubs stay in one place for only four days, moving on bef

ore they leave too strong a smell behind in one area. They also expend time and energy teaching their cubs to hunt successfully. In one or two sentences, explain how these behaviors affect cheetah reproductive success.(2 points)

Answer:

Cheetah cubs are in danger from predators like lions and hyenas which can track their prey by scent and so the mother and her cubs leave an area when their scent is too strong so that they are not hunted and the cubs survive.

Mother Cheetahs also train their cubs to hunt so that they may get food for themselves which will ensure their survival as well thus showing that both of these practices can impact on reproductive success.

The trunk of a elephant may extend up to 2.2 m. It acts much like an organ pipe only open at one end when the elephant blows air
Talja [164]

Answer:

1) f = 38.63 Hz , 2)   f = 115.9 Hz

Explanation:

The elephant's trunk can be approximated by a tube with a closed end, in pipes the closed ends correspond to nodes and the open ends to antinodes or bellies.

The expression for the wavelengths of this system is

             4L = n λ

              n = 1, 3, 5, 7 ...

also let's use the relationship between frequency and wavelength and wave speed

            v = λ f

             f = v / λ

             f = v n / 4L

             f = v / 4L n

1) the fundamental frequency occurs for n = 1

            f = 340/4 2.2 1

            f = 38.63 Hz

2) The first harmonic

           n = 3

            f = 340/4 2.2  3

           f = 115.9 Hz

If two waves with EQUAL amplitudes and wavelengths travel through a medium in such a way that a particular of the medium is the
Ad libitum [116K]

If this were to happen then the particle would be at the node (the point in the middle where the lines meet). Therefore, the particle will not move up or down because you can see the waves interfere destructively so there is no movement at the node.

answer. The particle will remain stationary due to interference.

Suppose a plot of inverse wavelength vs frequency has slope equal to 0.119, what is the speed of sound traveling in the tube to
strojnjashka [21]

Answer:

8.40 m/s

Explanation:

Slope of the plot is 0.119

Slope of a plot is given by the change in y direction divided by the change in x direction

Here, the y axis represents inverse wavelength and the x axis represents frequency.

f = Frequency (Hz, assumed)

v = Phase velocity (m/s, assumed)

λ = Wavelength (m, assumed)

So, slope

m=\frac{\frac{1}{\lambda}}{f}

Now,

\lambda=\frac{v}{f}\\\Rightarrow \lambda^{-1}=\frac{f}{v}

\\\Rightarrow m=\frac{\frac{f}{v}}{f}\\\Rightarrow 0.119=\frac{1}{v}\\\Rightarrow v=\frac{1}{0.119}\\\Rightarrow v=8.40\ m/s

The speed of sound travelling in the tube is 8.40 m/s
