The relatively high resistivity of dry skin, about 1 x 10^6 ohms - m, can safely limit the flow of current into deeper tissues o

f the body. Suppose an electrical worker places his palm on an instrument whose metal case is accidently connected to a high voltage. The skin of the palm is about 1.5mm thick. Assume the area of skin on the worker's palm that would contact a flat panel is 1.0

According to the values given, and to the similarity with the subject raised in the question, the subject is resistance and conductivity. With the data presented we can find the resistance in the palm skin. The formula relating resistivity (ρ) to resistance (R), cross-sectional area (A) and length (L) is

R = \frac{\rho L}{A}

Where,

L = Length

A = Area

\rho= Resistivity

Our values are given as,

A= 1*10^{-2}m^2

L = 1.5mm

\rho = 1*10^6 \Omega \cdot m

R = \frac{(1*10^6)(1.5*10^{-3})}{1*10^{-2}}

R = 1.5*10^5\Omega

R = 0.5M\Omega

Therefore the resistance of the skin of the palm is 0.5M\Omega

The answer is:

It is virtual and behind the mirror.

Mirrors produce images, either virtual or real.

Virtual images are produced when the image is behind the mirror. Real images are formed when they image is produced in front of the mirror.

So look at the image produced. It's small and found in behind the mirror.  This means that it is a virtual image. How do I know that its behind the mirror?

When you look at the diagram, the front side of the mirror is the blue side. This is a convex mirror.

Argon, atomic number 18, has an atomic weight of 39.9. Potassium, atomic number 19, has an atomic weight of 39.1. Which of these
Rufina [12.5K]

Answer: D

Explanation:

Atomic weight is measured by adding the number of protons and neutrons in an atom's nucleus. Argon's atomic number is 18 while potassium's is 19. This means that Argon will always have 18 protons while potassium will always have 19 protons.

To make the numbers easier to work with, round each atomic weight. We'll say the atomic weight of potassium is 39 and the atomic weight of argon is 40. To see how many neutrons each one has, I can set up a simple equation for each using the following equation:

Atomic weight = protons + neutrons

Potassium:

39 = 19 + N  -->  N = 20

Argon:

40 = 18 + N  -->  N = 22

An atom is defined by the number of protons it has, but the number of neutrons can vary. We call these isotopes, or atoms with the same number of protons but a different number of neutrons. As the math shows, argon typically has more neutrons per atom than potassium does.

Section 2.2
Feliz [49]

Answer:

Speed changes at the rate of 24 m/s for each second over time.

Explanation:

We are told the object's acceleration is equal to 24 m/s²

Now we know that acceleration can also be defined as the rate of change of speed with time. Also speed has a unit known as m/s.

Thus, we can rephrase the acceleration in this question to mean;

Speed changes at the rate of 24 m/s for every second with time.
