Luke and Carrie are driving down a straight section of the interstate at 70 mph in Luke's new convertible. Carrie is drinking a

soda in the passenger seat. When she is done she tosses the bottle straight up in the air, just above the height of the car. What will happen to the bottle if air resistance is neglected?
A.
The bottle will land in Carrie's lap.
B.
Not enough information is given.

Consider a metal single crystal oriented such that the normal to the slip plane and the slip direction are at angles of 60 and 3
Scilla [17]

Explanation:

Given that,

Angle by the normal to the slip α= 60°

Angle by the slip direction with the tensile axis β= 35°

Shear stress = 6.2 MPa

Applied stress = 12 MPa

We need to calculate the shear stress applied at the slip plane

Using formula of shear stress

\tau=\sigma\cos\alpha\cos\beta

Put the value into the formula

\tau=12\cos60\times\cos35

\tau=4.91\ MPa

Since, the shear stress applied at the slip plane is less than the critical resolved shear stress

So, The crystal will not yield.

Now, We need to calculate the applied stress necessary for the crystal to yield

Using formula of stress

\sigma=\dfrac{\tau_{c}}{\cos\alpha\cos\beta}

Put the value into the formula

\sigma=\dfrac{6.2}{\cos60\cos35}

\sigma=15.13\ MPa

Hence, This is the required solution.

PLEASE HELP!!! GIVING BRAINLIEST!! ill also answer questions that you have posted if you answer this correctly!!!! (60pts)
mr Goodwill [35]
The density of an object determines whether it will float or sink in another substance. An object will float if it is less dense than the liquid it is placed in. An object will sink if it is more dense than the liquid it is placed in.
So since the boat has a lower density than the water, it will float.
So the answer is choice B

If the vertical component of velocity for a projectile is 7.3 meters/second, what is its hang time?
Kamila [148]
A projectile motion is characterized by motion moving in a direction of an arc. It is acted upon by two component vectors: the horizontal and vertical. These two vectors are independent of each other when it comes to time of flight. The horizontal direction travels at constant speed, while the vertical direction travels at constant acceleration due to gravity, The time for an object to reach the ground would be equal, whether dropped from the sampe point or thrown in a projectile motion. Of course, this is assuming ideality wherein there is no air resistance.

So, the hang up time, or the time the object stayed on air is calculated using this equation:

a = Δv/t
Δv is the change in velocity which is the initial velocity when it was dropped to when it reaches zero velocity when it hits the ground.
9.81 m/s² = |(0 - 7.3)|/t
t = 0.744 seconds

I NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!
Ratling [72]

Answer:

D) momentum of cannon + momentum of projectile= 0

Explanation:

The law of conservation of momentum states that the total momentum of an isolated system is constant.

In this case, the system cannon+projectile can be considered as isolated, because no external forces act on it (in fact, the surface is frictionless, so there is no friction acting on the cannon). Therefore, the total momentum of the two objects (cannon+projectile) must be equal before and after the firing:

p_i = p_f

But the initial momentum is zero, because at the beginning both the cannon and the projectile are at rest:

p_i = 0

So the final momentum, which is sum of the momentum of the cannon and of the projectile, must also be zero:

p_f = p_{cannon}+p_{projectile} =0
