Answer: D.) to provide sufficient energy to keep a reaction going

Explanation:

Activation energy is the extra energy that must be supplied to reactants in order to cross the energy barrier and thus convert to products.

A catalyst is a substance which increases the rate of a reaction by taking the reaction through a different path which involves lower activation energy and thus more molecules can cross the energy barrier and convert to products.  It is required for both endothermic and exothermic reactions.

The catalyst itself does not take part in the chemical reaction and is regenerated as such at the end.

The town in the video stressed using locally made goods instead of imported goods. How could using locally made goods lower CO2
ladessa [460]

Answer:

It reduces the need to import goods

Explanation:

When you buy locally, the products you buy don't come from far away, so they don't have to cross the country (or the ocean) by boat, plane or trucks to reach the market/store where you're buying, at least not from a long distance away.

The distance a vehicle travels, the less CO2 emissions it produces.

If the good you're buying is made/produced only an hour away, that's not much pollution produced compared as if the good has to come from a distant place spending days on highways to reach you.

How mant grams are there in 7.15 x 10^24 molecules of water?
worty [1.4K]

Answer:

B. 214.02

Explanation:

1 mol of water weighs 18.015 gm and contains 6.023 × 10²³ molecules

From question, We have 7.15 × 10²⁴ molecules

Dividing we get (7.15 × 10 ²⁴) ÷ ( 6.023 × 10²³) = 11.871 molecules

Now, Weight of water = 11.871 × 18.015 = 213.85 which is nearer to option B

What is the total number of electron pairs shared between the two atoms in an O2 molecule?
vodka [1.7K]
The answer is (2) 2 pairs. The oxygen atoms combine to get stable structure. So after the combination, each atom needs to have 8 electrons. So when they share 4 electrons can satisfy this requirement. Then there are 2 pairs shared.

4. 200 mL of a 5.6M solution to BaCl_2 have 750 mL of water added to it. What is the new concentration?
IceJOKER [234]

Answer:

4. 1.18 mol·L⁻¹

14. See below.

Explanation:

4. Dilution calculation

V₁c₁ = V₂c₂

Data:

V₁ = 200 mL; c₁ = 5.6 mol·L⁻¹

V₂ = 950 mL; c₂ = ?

Calculation:

c₂ = c₁ × V₁/V₂

c₂ = 5.6 mol·L⁻¹ × (200/950) = 1.18 mol·L⁻¹

The new concentration is 1.18 mol·L⁻¹ .

14. Boyle's Law graphs

We can write Boyle's Law as

pV = k or p = k/V or V= k/p

p and V are inversely related.

(a) As pressure increases, volume decreases. Thus, a graph of V vs p is a hyperbola.

(b) p = k/V =k(1/V)

 1/V = (1/k)p

   y  =   m x  + 0

A graph of 1/V vs p is a straight line.
