A 2000-kg elevator is at rest when its cable breaks. The elevator falls 26 m before it encounters a giant spring at the bottom o

f the elevator shaft. As the elevator falls, its safety clamp applies a constant frictional force of 17,000 N. 1. List all the forces acting on the elevator after the cable breaks but before it hits the spring. Determine the work done by each force on the elevator. Make sure these work terms have the appropriate signs (positive or negative). 2. Calculate the net work done on the elevator. 3. Use the work-kinetic-energy theorem to determine the speed of the elevator right before it encounters the spring. 4. After the elevator encounters the spring, the spring compresses by 0.6 m before the elevator comes to rest. The safety clamp continues to apply a constant 17,000 N force. List all the forces acting on the elevator while it falls this final 0.6 m. 5. For each force listed in question F4, determine an expression for the work it does on the elevator. Make sure each work term has the appropriate sign (positive or negative). 6. Use the work-kinetic-energy theorem to determine the value of the spring constant k.

Define1n force ? write down cgs unit of force
Ghella [55]

Force is a vector, it has direction, it can move objects and it was well described with laws by physicist Isaac Newton by which the units of force were named Newtons (N).

Hope this helps.

An aircraft is moving horizontally with a speed of 50m/s, at the height of 2km, an object is dropped from the aircraft. What is
posledela

Explanation:

use the diagram^

horizontal velocity of the object nvr changes, it'll stay 50m/s till it hits the ground

initial vertical velocity = 0

to find the final vertical velocity, use the formula:

v {}^{2} = u {}^{2} + 2as

where u = 0m/s, a = 9.8m/s², and s = 2000m

solve for v.

for time taken to reach ground, use the formula:

v = u + at

where v = the value for v u calculated above, u = 0 m/s, a = 9.8m/s² and solve for t.

Why aren’t hydrogen fuel cell cars currently available to the public?
olga55 [171]
For one thing, hydrogen gas or fuel is really expensive compared to present diesel and gasoline. There's no point in actually investing in them since economy will not improve otherwise. Gasoline stations will also have to adjust to how tricky hydrogen gas will be to support and store with ease. It's dangerous also to the driver, passengers and our environment.
