Structure and properties. At room temperature carbon dioxide is a colourless and odourless gas. The carbon dioxide molecule is made up of one carbon atom joined to two oxygen atoms. This means it has a chemical formula is CO₂

Atomic mass of carbon is 12gm. 12 gm of carbon contains 6.02×10^23 no of atoms. If 12 gm of C contains Avogadro's no of atoms then 6gm of C will have half of avogadro's no of atoms(1/2×6.02×10^23) =3.01×10^23 no of atoms

For CO2 there is one atom of carbon and two atoms of oxygen. For H2O, there is one atom of oxyegen and two atoms of hydrogen. A moleclue can Be made of only one type of atom

What mass of C6H8O7 should be used every 7.0 X 10^2mg NaHCO3
Savatey [412]

Mass C₆H₈O₇ : 0.531484 g

Further explanation

Reaction

3NaHCO₃ (aq) + C₆H₈O₇ (aq) → 3 CO₂ (g) + 3 H₂O (l) + Na₃C₆H₅O₇ (aq)

MW NaHCO₃ : 84 g/mol

mass NaHCO₃ : 7.10² mg=0.7 g

mol NaHCO₃ :

\tt mol=\dfrac{0.7}{84}=0.0083

mol C₆H₈O₇ :

\tt \dfrac{1}{3}\times 0.0083=0.00277

MW C₆H₈O₇ : 192 g/mol

mass C₆H₈O₇ :

\tt mass=0.00277\times 192=0.53184

Why was there so much disagreements among the ancient greeks about the nature of the atoms?
olga2289 [7]
It is because in that time science was not established. This is, the experimentation to test hypotheses, which is a fundamental part of the scientific method, was not applied.

Atoms can not be seen, then they could only reflect or philosophize on this matter. This method is not able to give good answers to so complicated scientific matters.
