An important news announcement is transmitted by radio waves to people sitting next to their radios 42 km from the station and b

y sound waves to people sitting across the newsroom 9.26 m from the newscaster. Taking the speed of sound in air to be 343 m/s, who receives the news first?

Answer:

news will reach to the listener who are 42 km apart

Explanation:

given,

distance of the radios from the station = 42 Km

speed of the sound in the air = 343 m/s

distance of the people = 9.26 m

time =\dfrac{distance}{speed}

time taken by the signal to reach to the radio

speed of the electromagnetic wave to reach to the people

speed of electromagnetic wave = 3 × 10⁸ m/s

t =\dfrac{42000}{3 \times 10^8}

t = 1.4 μs

time taken to reach to the people

time =\dfrac{distance}{speed}

t =\dfrac{9.26}{343}

t = 27 ms

time taken by the station to radio is less.

hence, news will reach to the listener who are 42 km apart

When an object moves, stops moving, changes speed, or changes direction, how do scientists describe that condition?
lorasvet [3.4K]
Drop "moves" from the list for a moment.

You can also drop "stops moving", because that's included in "changes speed"
(from something to zero).

When an object changes speed or changes direction, that's called "acceleration".

I dropped the first one from the list, because an object can be moving,
and as long as it's speed is constant and it's moving in a straight line,
there's no acceleration.

I think you meant to say "starts moving". That's a change of speed (from zero
to something), so it's also acceleration.

When the temperature of the air is 25 degress C, the velocity of a sound wave traveling through the air is approximately
dusya [7]
Assuming an ideal gas, the speed of sound depends on temperature
only.   Air is almost an ideal gas.

Assuming the temperature of 25°C in a "standard atmosphere", the
density of air is 1.1644 kg/m3, and the speed of sound is 346.13 m/s.

The velocity can't be specified, since the question gives no information
regarding the direction of the sound.
